Vehicle check
Check for fluid leaks from the telescoping strut. Check the condition of the telescopic pole for damage or deformation.
Unscrewing the telescopic strut nut (self-locking nuts)
Attention! Set the special tool straight (MV991238), so that its maximum length matches the length of the spring.
Attention! Using an impact wrench to compress a fixture (MV991237) not allowed: the special tool will break.
Use the following special tool to compress the suspension spring.
- MB991237: spring compressor.
- МВ991238: set of levers.
Warning! Using an impact wrench to loosen the telescopic strut nut (self-locking nut) not allowed. Vibration from the impact wrench causes the special tool to slip (MB991237 and MB991238), which leads to injury.
Use the following special tool to fix the telescopic pole, after which it is possible to loosen the nut of the telescopic pole (self-locking nut).
- MB991681: key.
- MB991682: socket head (key).
Disposal of the telescopic pole
Attention! Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from flying metal chips.
Before scrapping, gas must be removed from the telescopic rack. Lay the telescopic pole horizontally and extend the pole. Drill a hole with a diameter of about 3 mm at the location shown in the figure and release the gas from the rack.
Installing the Upper Spring Cup
If the top spring seat has moved away from the strut pad, attach the cup and pad with double-sided adhesive tape.
Telescopic stand installation (self-locking nut)
Make sure the bearing fits correctly.
Attention! Using an impact wrench to compress a fixture (MV991237) not allowed: the special tool will break.
Use the following special tool to compress the suspension spring.
- MB991237: spring compressor.
- МВ991238: set of levers.
Since the spring is compressed with a special tool at this stage, temporarily tighten the strut nut (self-locking nut).
Align the hole in the bottom support cup with the hole in the top support cup.
Attention! Use a rod to make this operation easier.
Align the lower end of the spring with the recess in the lower support cup, then remove the special tool.
Attention! The use of an impact wrench to tighten the self-locking nut is not allowed, otherwise the strut nut (self-locking nut) will be damaged.
Using the following special tool, tighten the strut nut (self-locking nut) torque 60 + 10 Nm.
Examination
Check the condition of the telescopic strut bearing for wear or corrosion.
Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration.
Check the condition of the suspension spring for deformation, damage or destruction.
Check the condition of the telescopic pole for deformation.
