Mitsubishi Carisma — a large family car (D-segment), which was produced from 1995 to 2004 for the European markets by the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation at the VDL Nedcar plant in the Netherlands. Developed jointly with Volvo and uses the same platform as the Volvo S40 passenger car. The body was in the form of a five-door hatchback or four-door sedan, 4445 mm long, 1710 mm wide, 1405 mm high and a curb weight of 1080 kg. The engine was located transversely in the front, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The name was derived from a combination of the English word "car", which is translated as "automobile" and the Greek word "kharisma", which means "divine gift". Over the entire period, about 350 thousand cars were produced.

Petrol engines were installed only four-cylinder with a volume of 1.3 liters (1298 cm³, 4G13, 82 hp), 1.6 liters (1597 cm³, 4G92, 103 hp), 1.8 liters (1834 cm³, 4G93, 116 hp) and 1.8 liters (1834 cm³, 4G93, GDI, 122 hp). There were two models of diesel engines, also four-cylinder supplied by Renault, both with a volume of 1.9 liters (1870 cm³), one "F8Q TD" with a capacity of 102 hp and the other "F9Q DI-D" with a capacity of 115 hp. The gearbox was five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The Carisma had a "neutral" design, not particularly distinguished, and on the European market it competed mainly with "Ford Mondeo". Other competitors and classmates were the Citroen C5, Fiat Marea, Honda Civic, Nissan Almera, Opel Vectra, Skoda Octavia, Seat Toledo, Subaru Impreza, Suzuki Works, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Passat etc. Among the cars of the Mitsubishi company, this car stands between "Lancer" и "Galant".

In 1999, the first update of the car was carried out, which affected mainly the appearance. In 2002, it was again subjected to a very light modernization, the most noticeable difference being the updated headlights. Over nine years, about 400 thousand cars were produced. After the end of production in December 1994, this niche was occupied by the "Lancer".
