Vehicle check
Check the ball joint boot for cracks or damage by squeezing the boot with your fingers.
Checking and adjusting the angles of the front wheels.
Loosen lower suspension arm bolt
Raise the transmission with a jack, then remove the lower suspension arm front bolt (left-hand drive vehicles).
Installing the telescopic strut nut (self-locking nut)
Tighten the self-locking nut so that the length of the protruding threaded part of the anti-roll bar comes out to the nominal value.
Rated value (A): 9.4±0.4 mm.
Examination
Check the condition of the lower control arm bushings for wear or damage.
Check the condition of the lower control arm assembly for bent or broken.
Check the condition of all mounting bolts (thread condition and curvature).
Check of the moment of the beginning of turning of the spherical joint of the lower arm
Shake the ball joint a few times, then use the special tool to (MV991006) measure the moment when the ball joint begins to rotate.
Rated value: 0 - 3.9 Nm.
If the measured torque is not correct, or the ball joint is difficult to turn or sticks, replace the lower control arm assembly.
Checking the protective boot of the ball joint of the lower arm
Check the ball joint boot for cracks or damage by squeezing the boot with your fingers.
If the ball joint boot is cracked or damaged, replace the lower control arm assembly.
Attention! Cracks or damage in the protective boot can cause damage to the ball joint. If the protective boot is damaged during work in the workshop, only the protective boot of the ball joint of the lower suspension arm must be replaced.
Lower arm ball joint boot replacement
If the protective boot is damaged during workshop work, replace only the lower control arm ball joint protective boot.
Remove the protective cover of the ball joint of the lower arm.
Apply the recommended grease to the lip and inside of the new boot.
Recommended lubricant: Grease SAE J310, NLGI No. 2 or equivalent. Required amount of lubricant for protective boot (reference value): 8–10 g.
Using a special tool to remove/install ball joints (MV990800), slide the protective boot over the ball joint until it is fully locked in place.

Install the lower arm ball joint boot as shown. Check for abnormal bulge or pressure being applied to the boot by the lower arm ball joint.
Check the ball joint boot for cracks or damage by squeezing the boot with your fingers.
Lower arm rear bushing replacement
Replace the lower control arm rear bushing by following the steps below.
The following special tool is used to remove the lower arm rear bushing.
- МВ990883: mandrel for rear suspension bushing.
- МВ990972: torsion shaft bushing extractor base.
- MB990887: ring.
- MB990890: rear suspension hub base.
Position the lower arm rear bushing so that its lug is positioned as shown in the illustration, then use the special tool to press the bushing in.
Press in the bushing until its outer tube is flush with the surface of the lower arm.
