Check on the car
Check the ball joint boot for cracks or damage by squeezing the boot with your fingers.
Checking and adjusting the front wheel alignment angles.
Loosening the lower suspension arm bolt

Raise the transmission with a jack, then remove the front lower control arm bolt (left-hand drive vehicles).
Installing the telescopic strut nut (self-locking nut)
Tighten the self-locking nut until the protruding threaded portion of the anti-roll bar reaches the nominal length.

Nominal value (A): 9.4±0.4 mm.
Examination
Check the condition of the lower control arm bushings for wear or damage.
Check the condition of the lower control arm assembly for bending or damage.
Check the condition of all mounting bolts (thread condition and bending).
Checking the moment of the beginning of rotation of the ball joint of the lower arm

Shake the ball joint several times, then use the special tool (MB991006) to measure the moment the ball joint begins to turn.
Nominal value: 0–3.9 Nm.
If the measured torque value is not within the specification, or the ball joint turns with difficulty or sticks, replace the lower control arm assembly.
Checking the protective boot of the lower arm ball joint
Check the ball joint boot for cracks or damage by squeezing the boot with your fingers.
If there are cracks or damage to the ball joint protective boot, replace the lower arm assembly.
Caution! Cracks or damage in the protective boot may cause damage to the ball joint. If the protective boot is damaged during work in the workshop, only the protective boot of the lower suspension arm ball joint must be replaced.
Replacing the protective boot of the lower arm ball joint
If the protective boot is damaged during workshop work, replace only the lower control arm ball joint protective boot.
Remove the lower arm ball joint protective cover.
Apply the recommended grease to the edge and inside of the new boot.
Recommended lubricant: SAE J310, NLGI No.2 grease or equivalent. Required amount of grease for protective boot (reference value): 8–10 g.

Using the special tool for removing/installing ball joints (MB990800), place the protective cover on the ball joint until it is fully fixed in place.

Install the lower arm ball joint boot as shown in the figure. Check that there is no abnormal swelling or pressure applied to the boot by the lower arm ball joint.
Check the ball joint boot for cracks or damage by squeezing the boot with your fingers.
Replacing the rear lower arm bushing

Replace the rear lower control arm bushing by performing the following operations.

The following special tool is used to remove the rear lower control arm bushing.
- МВ990883: Mandrel for rear suspension bushing.
- MB990972: Torsion shaft bushing puller base.
- MB990887: ring.
- МВ990890: rear suspension bushing base.
Position the rear lower arm bushing so that its protrusion is located as shown in the figure, then use the special tool to press the bushing in.

Press the bushing until its outer tube is flush with the surface of the lower arm.
