Operations before removal and after installation
Remove and install the air filter unit.
Remove and install the battery and battery tray.
Removing the gear selection cable connection (from the gearbox side) and gear shift rod clamp
Bend the tabs on the shift rod clamp using a screwdriver, etc., and then remove the shift rod clamp from the bracket along with the cables.
Installing the Gear Select Cable Connection (from the gearbox side) and gear shift rod clamp
Place the shift lever on the transmission side and the shift lever on the passenger compartment side of the vehicle to the neutral position.
Install the painted end of the shift cable (from the gearbox side) and the painted part of the gear selection cable (from the gearbox side) so that they are facing towards the cotter pin.
Note. Carefully install the shift rod clamp, shift cable and gear select cable until it clicks into place.
After installing the new shift rod clamp to the cable bracket on the transmission, install the shift cable and gear select cable into the cable bracket.
Note. The clamp is double-sided.
By moving the shift lever to all positions, check that it moves smoothly.
Installing the shift cable clamp
Make sure there is no excessive play in the shift cable clamp at the end of the shift cable. If there is excessive play, or if the shift cable clamp has become disconnected from the end of the shift cable, check the clearance in the clamp. If the gap is more than 9.5 mm, squeeze the shift cable clamp until there is a gap of 5-8 mm in the free state.
Gear Lever Block
Insert the shift cable clamp into the hook on the shift cable and press the shift cable clamp with your thumbs until it clicks.
Install the shift cable to the shift lever.
