Gear shift drive — device (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

In COLT/LANCER, cables are used instead of conventional gear shift rods (except for models with a petrol engine from 1.84 to 8.86). This has the advantage that fewer unpleasant vibrations are transmitted to the passenger compartment and to the gear shift handle, and that the movements of the operating units have less effect on the gear shift drive. In addition, this gear shift drive is practically maintenance-free.

When a gear is engaged, the lateral movement in neutral (gear selection movement) and the longitudinal movement, when the selected gear is engaged, are clearly distinguished. Each movement is transmitted to the gearbox via a separate cable.
