/70 = Height to width ratio (height is 70% of width).
If this ratio is not specified (e.g. 155 R 13), then we are talking about the "normal" height to width ratio. It is 82% for tubeless tires.
H = Speed class, H: up to 210 km/h (not always indicated on new tire models).
R = Radial tire.
14 = Rim diameter in inches.
89 = Load capacity parameter.
Please note: If there is an M + S designation between the symbols 14 and 89, this is a tyre with a winter profile.
H = Symbol for maximum permissible speed.
The speed symbol appears after the tire size indication. They apply to both summer and winter tires.

The tire manufacturing date is indicated in the tire manufacturer's code.
Example: DOT CUL2 UM8 412 < TUBELESS DOT = Department of Transportation (US Department of Transportation)
- CU = manufacturer's code designation
- L2 = tire size
- UM8 = tire type
- 412 = production date = 41st production week of 1992.
- < = Symbol of the current decade (1990-1999)
- TUBELESS = tubeless tyre (TUBETYPE = tube type).
