Removal the steering column shaft assembly
Caution! The tilt control lever of the steering column must be held in the locked position until the installation of the steering column is complete. If the steering column is removed with the tilt control lever released, or the tilt control lever is released after the steering column shaft is removed, the installation of the steering column shaft cannot be completed correctly. If the steering column is not installed correctly, the energy absorbing mechanism may be damaged.
Make sure the steering column tilt lever is in the locked position, then remove the steering column mounting bolts.
Squeeze the steering column shaft lock with pliers and pull the shaft out in the direction of the arrow to disconnect the steering column shaft assembly.

Caution: When reusing the steering column, do not release the tilt control lever until the steering column shaft is fully installed.
