Checking the electric heating of the intake pipe (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

To improve the performance characteristics during the engine warm-up phase, an electric heating element is installed between the intake manifold and the carburetor. It warms up instantly and gives off its heat to the air-fuel mixture.

Examination

Break the electrical circuit, see Fig. K-2016.



Using 2 jumpers, connect the battery voltage to the heating element and check if it heats up.

Caution: The heating element may be very hot.

Reconnect the connector.
