Removal and installation the crankshaft position sensor
− Before starting to remove parts, remove the lower timing belt cover.
− When removing parts, refer to the figure "Removing the crankshaft position sensor".
Removal the crankshaft position sensor.
− Installation of parts is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
− After completing the installation of the parts, install the lower timing belt cover.
Removal and installation the camshaft position sensor
- (GDI engines) Before removing parts, remove the engine cover.
− When removing parts, refer to the figure "Removing the camshaft position sensor".
Removal the knock sensor.
− Installation of parts is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
- (GDI engines) After installing the parts, install the engine cover.
Removal and installation the knock sensor
- (GDI engines) Before removing parts, remove the engine cover.
- (MPI Engine) Before removing parts, disconnect the cables from the battery terminals.
− When removing and installing parts, refer to the figure "Removing the knock sensor".
Removal the camshaft position sensor.
- When removing parts, pay attention to the following operations:
1. (4G15-GDI engine) Removing the intake manifold resonator.
Loosen the intake manifold resonator mounting bolts in the locations shown in the figure and remove it.
2. Removing the knock sensor.
Using the special tool, remove the knock sensor as shown in the figure.
Caution: Do not drop or subject the knock sensor to impact.
- When installing the parts, pay attention to the operation of installing the knock sensor.
a) Using the special tool, install the knock sensor as shown in the figure (see the sensor removal operation).
b) When installing the knock sensor, make sure that the tightening torque of the sensor corresponds to the nominal value, since the installation of the sensor affects the operation of the engine management system.
Tightening torque: 21-25 Nm
- After completing the installation of the parts, perform the following operations:
- a) (GDI engines) Install the engine cover.
- b) (MPI engines) Connect the wires to the battery terminals.
