This sensor measures the crankshaft rotation angle. At the same time, by relating the rotation angle to time, the crankshaft rotation speed is obtained. This data is used to synchronize the entire fuel injection process and determine the injection advance depending on the rotation speed (the higher the rotation speed, the greater the angular gap between the start of injection and TDC).
The sensor is installed on the coolant pump housing (see Fig. M2 3.018).
