Removing
Set wheels to straight ahead.
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
Attention: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the control unit for the fuel injection device may fail. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in sections "Radio" And "Removing and installing the battery".
Raise trim -5- in middle of steering wheel by first pulling trim away from steering wheel from below.
Unscrew the steering wheel nut and the extension with the replaceable head.
Mark the position of the steering wheel on the control shaft, for which a felt-tip pen or a marker draw a line on both parts.
Steering wheel with 3 spokes
Steering wheel with 4 spokes
Pull the steering wheel off the steering shaft with a jerk. If the steering wheel cannot be tightened in this way, an appropriate puller must be used. To tighten, screw 2 puller bolts into the holes on the steering wheel on the left and right.
Attention: Do not remove the steering wheel with hammer blows, as this may damage the telescopic safety device.
Installation
Check if the direction indicator switch is in the neutral position, otherwise the cam may be damaged when putting on the steering wheel.
Slide the steering wheel onto the steering shaft spline so that the spokes are horizontal and the markings match.
Fasten the steering wheel with a nut.
Connect the battery ground cable, check the operation of the horn.
Make a test drive and check the position of the steering wheel while driving straight ahead. The steering wheel spokes must be horizontal, otherwise move the steering wheel to the appropriate position.
Check the automatic return to neutral of the turn signal switch.
If available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.
