The designation consists of two letters. The first letter characterizes the range of application: S = Service, intended for gasoline engines, C = Commercial, intended for diesel engines. The second letter designates the grade in alphabetical order.
The highest grade oils according to API specification are SG for gasoline engines and CE for diesel engines.
Note: Motor oils that are clearly indicated by the manufacturer for use in diesel engines are prohibited for use in petrol engines. There are oils that can be used in both petrol and diesel engines. In this case, a double designation is indicated on the packaging (e.g. SF/CD).
The following API specification oils are suitable for MITSUBISHI COLT/LANCER with gasoline engines: SE, SF and SG, and for diesel engines: CC, CD and CE.
