Check that the stroke "A" of the outer door handle corresponds to the nominal value.

Nominal value "A"




  • Front door: Nominal value 3.9 mm or less.
  • Recommended value: 1.9 mm.
  • Rear door: nominal value 3.6 mm or less.
  • Recommended value: 1.6 mm.

If the outside door handle travel is not within the specified value, check and, if necessary, replace the outside door handle or door lock assembly.

Checking the stroke of the inside handle for opening the side door



Check that the stroke "B" of the inner door handle corresponds to the nominal value.

Nominal value "B"




  • Driver's door: nominal value: 9.3 - 17.7 mm.
  • Recommended value: 13.9 mm.
  • Except driver's door: nominal value: 3.8–12.2 mm.
  • Recommended value: 8.4 mm.

If the stroke of the inside door handle does not correspond to the nominal value, check and, if necessary, replace the inside door handle or door lock assembly.



Checking the stroke of the internal side door lock button



Remove the door trim assembly.

To check the stroke of the inner button, check that the distance "A" matches the nominal value at different positions of the inner button.

Nominal value "A"




  • When blocking: 3–5 mm.
  • When unlocked (front door): 18–20 mm.
  • When unlocked (rear door): 11–19 mm.



If the value "A" does not correspond to the nominal value, adjust it by moving the end of the cable sheath.

Checking the travel of the outer rear door handle





Check that the stroke "A" of the outer door handle corresponds to the nominal value.


  • Nominal value "A": 2.3 mm.

If the travel of the outer door handle does not correspond to the nominal value, remove the lower trim of the rear door.

Remove the outer door handle rod holder and adjust the outer handle stroke by moving the outer door handle rod.
