If parts are marked or matched to ensure proper assembly and ease of operation, make sure they are oriented in the correct orientation during assembly. This will prevent performance degradation or deterioration in appearance. When disassembling an assembly consisting of a large number of parts that are identical and/or symmetrical, arrange the parts in a certain sequence to avoid mixing them during assembly.
Arrange the parts to be removed in the correct order.
Determine the parts that will be reused and that need to be replaced.
If it is necessary to replace bolts, nuts, etc., make sure that an element with the correct geometry is used.
Use in service work instead of a special tool of a conventional one can lead to damage to vehicle components or injury to personnel. Therefore, when carrying out work that indicates the use of a special tool, make sure that the appropriate special tool is used.
If the following parts are removed, they must be replaced with new ones.
- cuffs (oil seals).
- Gaskets (excluding head gasket).
- Sealing elements.

- Lock nuts.
- Pins.
- Self-locking nuts.
When replacing parts, use genuine MITSUBISHI parts.
Be careful not to spill gasoline, oil, etc. Otherwise, it may get on nozzles or other rubber products, which can lead to a decrease in their performance.
As recommended in this manual, apply the specified lubricants to the appropriate components when assembling and installing them.
Before replacing a component of the electrical system and before repairing the electrical system, make sure that the (–) battery terminal.
Attention! Before connecting or disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery, make sure that the ignition and parking lights are turned off, as otherwise, semiconductor elements may be damaged.
Application of anti-corrosion coating and base (soil)
If oil or grease gets on the oxygen sensor, it will cause deterioration in its performance. Cover the oxygen sensor with a protective cover when applying an anti-corrosion coating or primer.
Preparing the car for the performance of diagnostic and control operations
Term «condition of the car before the start of control and diagnostic operations» means that the condition of the vehicle before starting the test must meet the following requirements:
- coolant temperature should be 80-90°С;
- headlights, electric cooling fan, and all other auxiliary consumers of electricity must be turned off;
- the manual transmission is set to neutral;
- the automatic transmission should be set to «R».
Engine oils
Attention! Prolonged and often repeated contact with mineral oils leads to the removal of natural oils from the skin, which leads to its drying, irritation and dermatitis. What's more, used oil contains potentially harmful compounds that can cause skin cancer. Appropriate skin protection measures should be taken and handwashing facilities needed.
Recommended Precautions
The most effective precautions taken in maintenance practice to prevent the risk of skin contact with mineral oils is the use of closed systems for the disposal of used oils and greases, where possible, before they are disposed of.
Avoid prolonged and repetitive contact with oils, especially used oils.
Wear protective clothing, including oil resistant gloves, when handling oils.
Do not allow work clothes, especially underwear, to become soaked with oils.
Do not put oiled rags in work clothes pockets, use work clothes without pockets to avoid this. Do not wear heavily oiled work clothes and shoes. Work clothes should be washed regularly; it must also be kept separate from everyday clothing.
