Make sure the selector position indicator works properly in all modes.

Press the accelerator pedal fully, make sure that the accelerator pedal fully depressed switch is activated.

Stop the car on a steep slope. Set the gear selector to the "P" position and slowly release the brake pedal. Make sure the car stays on the slope in the "P" position. If this does not happen, the gearbox needs maintenance.
