2. Check the appearance of the gearbox for signs of oil leakage, check the oil level in the gearbox by unscrewing the filler plug. If the oil is contaminated, replace it.

3. The oil should be at the level of the lower edge of the filler hole (Fig. 11.1).
4. Check that the oil is not noticeably dirty and has the correct viscosity.
