Consumables:
  • ATF Dexron or Dexron-II.

Examination

  • Warm up the car by driving about 20 km, the oil temperature in the gearbox is from 70° to 80°C.
  • Place the car on a level surface.
  • Start the engine at idle speed. Set the handbrake, alternately shift the gearshift lever from P to L to all positions and move the lever to position N.

  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a lint-free cloth. Caution: Clean the area around the dipstick before removing it.
  • Insert the dipstick all the way in and pull it out again.
  • Check the oil level. The oil level should reach the HOT mark. Otherwise, add oil to the automatic transmission.
  • Pour oil into the gearbox through a corresponding funnel with a mesh through the hole for the oil dipstick. Note: If the level is low, the oil pump pumps air into the system, which can cause malfunctions of the gearbox. If the level is high, the gearbox overheats and the oil is squeezed out through the ventilation valve. If the level is high, suck out excess oil.

Note: If the oil in the automatic transmission is black and smells burnt, it should be replaced. This may require repair of the transmission (workshop work).

  • Insert the dipstick completely.
