Checking the clutch fluid level (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

The clutch fluid expansion tank is located in the engine compartment next to the brake booster.

The expansion tank is transparent, so the fluid level can always be checked. It is recommended to take a look at the expansion tank once every 4 weeks.

If the fluid level drops, add brake fluid of specification SAE J 1703, DOT 3 or DOT 4.



Check whether the fluid level in the expansion tank is between the MIN and MAX marks. If the level has dropped below the MIN mark, check the tightness of the hydraulic clutch and replace the relevant parts if necessary. If the system is tight, the clutch driven disc is worn, see the section "Removing and installing the clutch".
