Wheel hub bearings — device (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

Bearing defects are detected by the following signs: noise on sharp turns; heavy wheel rotation when the brake is released. The hub bearings are so tightly pressed into the steering knuckle that they can only be installed by a specialist with special tools. This work must be carried out at MITSUBISHI service stations. Before replacing the bearing, the entire steering knuckle must be removed.

1 - Hub and brake disc
2 - Front wheel rotor (only for vehicles with ABS)
3 - Brake disc
4 - Front wheel hub
5 - Inner race of outer bearing
6 - Oil seal (from the hub side)
7 - Outer race of outer bearing
8 - Inner race of the inner bearing
9 - Oil seal (drive bearing side)
10 - Outer race of the inner bearing
11 - Shield
12 - Steering knuckle
