Checking the ignition coil (with built-in power key)
The check is carried out in accordance with the given check points. In case of malfunction, the ignition coil must be replaced.
Checking the resistance of the secondary winding

Check the resistance between the terminals of the secondary winding.
Nominal value: 8.5–11.5 kOhm.
Checking the primary winding and power transistor
Caution: An analog tester must be used to perform this test.

Connect the negative tester lead to terminal "1".
Attention! This test should be performed as quickly as possible (no more than 10 sec) to eliminate the possibility of overheating the ignition coil winding and power transistor.

Testing high-voltage wires with distributed resistance

Measure the resistance of all high voltage wires.
Check the condition of the tips and outer insulation.
Measure the resistance of the wires.
Maximum permissible value: Not more than 19 kOhm.
Checking and cleaning spark plugs
Caution! When disconnecting the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs, hold the tip of the wire. Do not apply force directly to the wire.
Remove the high voltage wires.
Remove the spark plugs.
Caution! The spark gap of iridium spark plugs cannot be adjusted.
Use spark plug cleaner to clean spark plugs. Cleaning time should not exceed 20 seconds. Do not use wire brushes to clean spark plugs. This can damage the iridium and platinum electrodes.

Check the spark gap. If the gap exceeds the permissible value, the spark plug must be replaced.
Nominal value: 1.0–1.1 mm.
Maximum permissible value: 1.3 mm.
Caution: When checking the spark plugs, do not allow foreign particles to enter the cylinders.
Clean the spark plug wells.
Screw in the spark plugs.
Checking the camshaft position sensor
If the P0340 fault code is stored in the memory, check the condition of the camshaft position sensor wires.
Checking the crankshaft angle sensor
If the P0335 fault code is stored in the memory, check the condition of the crankshaft angle sensor wires.
Checking the knock sensor
If the P0325 fault code is stored in the memory, check the condition of the knock sensor wires.
