The immobilizer is designed to minimize the likelihood of your car being stolen. The system's task is to block the engine from starting in the event of an unauthorized attempt to start it. Starting the engine is possible (under certain conditions) only with a key "registered" by the immobilizer.
Note: In the following cases, the immobilizer ECU may not receive the correct key ID code even when the registered key is turned to the START position:
- - if this key comes into contact with the metal ring of the key fob or other metal objects (type A);
- - if this key is caught on another metal key (type B);
- – if this key comes into contact with another key or any other transponder (responder) (type C).
In such cases, remove the above mentioned objects from the ignition switch and turn the key back to the "ACC" (Accessory) or "LOCK" (Lock) position. Then try to start the engine again.
Do not damage the key with cutting tools, etc., as there is a transponder (responder) inside the key.
The car comes with two keys. If one of the keys is lost, order a duplicate key from an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer as soon as possible. If you need an additional key, deliver the car and all the existing ones to the authorized dealer, as they need to be re-registered in the immobilizer electronic control unit. The immobilizer can register up to 8 different identification codes, i.e. you can have a maximum of 8 spare keys.
Warning! Do not make any changes or additions to the immobilizer system, any changes or additions may cause the immobilizer to fail.
