The system consists of a small-sized transceiver built into the ignition key, an antenna coil in the ignition switch and an immobilizer unit installed in the instrument panel.
The immobilizer unit checks the correctness of the code signal transmitted by the transceiver. If the code signal is determined to be correct, the engine can be started.
If the code signal is incorrect, the engine will not start.
Warnings
- (1) When the key is in the ignition switch, there should be no other electronic keys, metal objects or devices that emit electromagnetic waves near it.
- (2) Avoid exposing the key to sharp or pointed objects, as there is an electronic unit in the key head that may be damaged.
- (3) Do not modify or alter the engine start interlock system, as this may cause it to malfunction.
- (4) The vehicle comes with two keys. If you lose one of them, you can order an additional key from your Mitsubishi dealer. If you need an additional spare key, you must provide the dealer with all the keys and the vehicle so that all the keys can be re-registered in the immobilizer control unit.
Note: The immobilizer can register up to 8 different codes. You can have a maximum of 8 registered keys.
