The interlock in the lock helps prevent accidental opening of the door, especially when small children are in the back seat. Door lock latches are installed on each rear door.
If the lock latches are in the locked position, the rear doors cannot be opened from inside the vehicle. Use the outside door handle to open the rear door in this lock latch position.
If the door lock latches are in the " latch unlocked", the rear door lock will not work.
