Checking and adjusting the tension of auxiliary drive belts (Mitsubishi L200 4)

Inspect the belts and make sure there is no mechanical damage (cracks, breaks, cord delamination, etc.) and excessive wear. If the V-belt slips on the pulleys with a characteristic sound (squealing), check the tension, inspect the contact surfaces of the pulleys and the belt. If necessary, degrease the contact surfaces or replace the belt.

Note: The operations for removing and installing belts are described in the section "Engine. Mechanical part".


Checking the belt tension can be done in various ways:

3 Using special devices, by measuring frequency (using a measuring microphone) or force (using a strain gauge) (used in service station conditions).

2. Manually, by measuring the deflection of the belt when pressed at a certain point of the working branch with a specified force.
