Checking the poly V-belt of the alternator and steering pump drive (Mitsubishi L200 4)

Turn the crankshaft clockwise (one or more times) and make sure that the mark on the tensioner is within the zone "A" as shown in the figure. Otherwise, the belt must be replaced.



Due to the presence of an automatic tensioner, belt tension adjustment is not required.

Methods for checking the tension of a poly V-belt

Checking the belt tension by vibration frequency using a frequency meter tester and a measuring microphone.

Standard value: 107-151 Hz.



Checking the belt tension by vibration frequency by connecting a special device to the vehicle"s diagnostic connector (see Fig. M2 1.004).

Standard value: 107-151 Hz.



Checking belt tension using a strain gauge attachment.

Standard value: 196-392 N.

Note: If the measured value is outside the permissible range, the operation of the tensioner must be checked.

Checking the operation of the automatic belt tensioner

Remove the belt from the pulleys (the removal procedure is described in the section "Engine. Mechanical part").

Using a spanner and turning the automatic tensioner, make sure that it moves freely (without jamming) in the directions indicated by the arrows. Otherwise, the tensioner must be replaced.
