Pic. 3.3. Measuring the deflection of the power steering pump and air conditioning compressor drive belt: 1 – a pulley of the pump of the hydraulic booster of a steering; 2 - crankshaft pulley; 3 – an air conditioner compressor pulley; 4 - adjusting bolt; 5 - tensioner pulley; 6 – a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a tensioner
1. Using a special tool, check the belt tension at a point midway between the crankshaft pulleys and the power steering pump (pic. 3.3).
2. Then press the belt at this point with a force of 98 N, measure the deflection of the belt and compare it with the nominal value.
3. If the measured values of belt tension and deflection differ from the nominal values, adjust as follows:
- loosen the tensioner pulley bolt 6;
- adjust tension (deflection) belt adjusting bolt 4;
- tighten bolt 6;
- check the belt tension and deflection and, if necessary, repeat the adjustment.
Attention! The check is carried out after turning the crankshaft clockwise (right rotation) for one or more turns.
