Use a ruler or a wooden block to check the belt tension at the midpoint between the two pulleys as shown in Fig. 3.1. Then press the belt at this point with a force of 98 N, measure the belt deflection and compare it with the nominal value.
Adjustment
1. Loosen the generator pivot nut.

2. Loosen the lock bolt (Fig. 3.2).
3. Turn the generator adjusting bolt to adjust the belt tension and deflection to the nominal values.
4. Tighten the lock bolt to 23 N·m.
5. Tighten the generator pivot nut to 44 N·m.
6. Tighten the adjusting bolt to 6 Nm.
