Check the wear of the end of the rod and measure the amount of its protrusion from the mechanism.
If there are any defects, the mechanism must be replaced.
Note: the tensioner must be stored in a vertical position until installation.
Installation of the automatic tensioner
Before installing the automatic tensioner mechanism, it is necessary to bleed air and temporarily lock the stem. To do this: set the tensioner in a vertical position and, using a press, gently compress so that the rod protrudes approximately 0.5 mm from the mechanism body. Perform this operation 2-3 times.
Attention: the stem must be compressed slowly to avoid damage to the mechanism.
After removing the load from the rod, check the rigidity of the mechanism. When applying a load of 100-200 N, the stem should protrude from the body by 5 mm. If sufficient rigidity is not obtained, it is necessary to repeat the operation to remove air or replace the mechanism.
Press on the stem and, aligning the holes (A) And (IN), install a pin or wire with a diameter of 1.4 mm in them to fix the stem.
Note: The stem of the automatic tensioner mechanism supplied as spare parts is fixed with a pin.
