Checking the oil level (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

Check the oil level approximately every 1000 km and top up if necessary. Oil consumption should not exceed 1 l per 1000 km. Higher consumption is a sign of wear of the valve stem seals and/or piston rings or oil gaskets.

• When measuring the oil level, the vehicle must be on a level surface.
• The engine must be warmed up to operating temperature.
• After stopping the engine, wait at least 3 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan.
• Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.

• Then insert the dipstick all the way in and pull it out again. The oil level should be between the MAX and MIN marks.
• Add new oil only when the oil level approaches the minimum mark.
• Topping up is done through the oil filler neck on the cylinder head. Top up with the recommended oil, do not add additives.

Caution: Do not overfill above the MAX mark. If overfilling, suck out excess oil, otherwise the gaskets and catalytic converter may be damaged.
