- The hoses must be securely fastened to the fittings.
- Check the reliability of the clamps. If necessary, replace the old clamps with clamps with screw clamps.
- If the coolant level drops rapidly and you cannot locate the leak, check the cooling system on a hot engine. To do this, warm up the engine and let it idle until the radiator fan turns on. Pay attention to a possible leak in the area of the water pump.
- Increased coolant and/or oil consumption in the engine, as well as white smoke from the exhaust, indicate a defective cylinder head gasket.
Caution: It can sometimes be very difficult to localise the leak. In this case, it is recommended to pressure test the system, see section "Checking the cooling system". At the same time, the drain valve of the radiator cap should also be checked.
