- Hoses must be securely fastened to fittings.
- Check the tightness of the clamps. If necessary, install clamps with screw clamps instead of the old clamping collars.
- If the coolant level drops quickly and the leak cannot be located, check the cooling system with a hot engine. To do this, warm up the engine and leave it to idle until the radiator fan turns on. Pay attention to possible leakage in the area of the water pump.
- Increased coolant and/or oil consumption in the engine, as well as white smoke exhaust, indicates a defective cylinder head gasket.
Caution: It can sometimes be very difficult to locate a leak. In this case it is recommended to carry out a pressure test of the system, see section "Checking the cooling system". In this case, the radiator cap drain valve should also be checked.
