Cleaning / replacing the air filter (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

No special tool required.

The following replacement parts must be purchased:
  • Air filter. When purchasing, check the air filter for engine power.

Removal



Carburetor engine




  • Give back the wing nut.
  • Unfasten the clamping brackets.
  • Remove the lid and take out the air.


  • Check if the air filter is dirty or clogged. Knock out the dust or blow out the air filter with compressed air.
  • If heavily soiled, replace the air filter.

Installation


  • Wipe the air filter housing with a clean cloth.
  • Insert a new air filter into the housing.
  • Place the lid on and secure it with clamps or a screw.



1.5L engine with fuel injection device




Engine 1.6 / 1.8 l (16-valve) with fuel injection device

  • Disconnect the air mass meter connector.
  • Disconnect the ventilation hose.
  • Unscrew the resonator and remove the underwater air hose together with the resonator.
  • Unfasten the fastening brackets and remove the air filter cover. Caution: Do not drop the cover, otherwise you may damage the air mass meter.
  • F Remove the air filter and clean or replace it.




Installation


  • Wipe the air filter housing with a clean cloth.
  • Insert a new air filter into the housing.
  • Place the lid on and secure it with clamps or a screw.
  • Place the underwater air hose with the resonator. Screw the resonator. Put the air hose on the inlet pipe and secure with a clamp.
  • Connect the ventilation hose.
  • Connect the air mass meter connector.

Diesel engine




  • Release the clamps and remove the air filter cover.
  • Remove the air filter and clean or replace.

Installation


  • Wipe the air filter housing with a clean cloth.
  • Insert a new air filter into the housing.
  • Place the lid on and secure it with clamps or a screw.
