Checking the oil level (Mitsubishi Colt 4)

The oil level should be checked approximately every 1000 km. Oil consumption per 1000 km should not exceed 1 l. Higher consumption means wear of valve stem seals or piston rings, or oil gaskets.

• To measure the oil level, place the car on a level surface.
• Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
• After stopping the engine, wait until the oil drains into the oil pan.
• Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
• Then, insert the dipstick all the way and pull it out again. The oil level should be between the MAX and MIN marks.
• Add new oil only when the oil level approaches the minimum mark; topping up is done through the oil filler neck on the cylinder head.
