Removal
Caution: On models with the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), before removing the airbag, read the safety precautions in the appropriate section of the chapter "Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)".
− Before starting to remove parts, remove the lower trim of the instrument panel on the driver's side (see chapter "Body").
− The parts are removed in the order of numbers shown in the figure "Steering wheel". When removing the parts, pay attention to the following operations:
Steering wheel (models from 05.2000). 1 - lower steering wheel trim, 2 - steering wheel.
Steering wheel (models from 05.2002). 1 - lower steering wheel trim, 2 - steering wheel assembly, 3 - steering wheel/driver airbag module trim, 4 - steering wheel.
1. Removing the steering wheel.
Using a suitable tool, remove the lower steering wheel trim.

2. Removing the driver's airbag module.
a) Disconnect the connector "A" of the spiral wire.

b) (Models from 05.2002 with upshift/downshift switch on the steering wheel) Disconnect the upshift/downshift switch connector on the steering wheel.

c) Loosen the steering wheel mounting screws.

Note:
- - When installing, use new KOKEN 8mm screws (3010M-160, 4010M-160).
- - Do not disassemble the airbag module; if faulty, replace it as an assembly.
Installation
− Installation of parts is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
− After installing the parts, install the lower instrument panel trim on the driver's side (see chapter "Body").
