Attention:
- in case of replacement of linings and pads, replace the units on both sides of the vehicle;
- if the thickness of the linings on the left and right differs significantly, check the piston for slippage.
Remove the brake drum. Check the lining thickness at the thinnest point. Standard value: 5.0 mm, wear limit: 1.0 mm. Replace the shoe and lining unit if the lining thickness is less than the limit or if it is worn unevenly.
Checking the inner diameter of the drum brake
Remove the brake drum. Measure the inside diameter in at least two places. Standard value: 295 mm, wear limit: 297 mm. Replace the brake drums and shoe and lining assembly if the wear exceeds the limit or if the drum is worn unevenly.
Checking the contact surface of the brake drum and lining
Remove the brake drum and shoe/lining assembly. Apply chalk to the inside of the drum and run the lining over it. If contact is uneven, replace the brake drum or shoe/lining assembly. Clean the chalk off the parts after checking.
