Idle Speed Switch Sensor — Check (Mitsubishi Lancer 3)

The idle speed sensor is located on the idle speed regulator. The throttle lever is pressed against the idle speed sensor switch when the pedal is not pressed. The control unit recognizes whether the gas pedal is pressed or not based on the state of the switch.

Disconnect the idle speed sensor connector. Connect an ohmmeter to pin 4 of the sensor connector and ground. The resistance should be 0 Ohms, then open the throttle valve slightly and the resistance should change to ∞.

Check the supply voltage. Connect a voltmeter between contact 4 of the connector on the wiring harness and ground (e.g., engine block). Turn on the ignition. The required value >4 V. Turn off the ignition.



Differences in connector pinout:

• 1.5L engine, produced from 9.88 to 4.89: power supply=contact 3.
• 16 valve engine: power = terminal 1.
