The position sensor of the installation motor is a variable resistance (potentiometer) and transmits information about the position of the idle speed regulator to the control unit. This signal is necessary when regulating the idle speed. Deterioration of engine operation when additional units are turned on may be caused by a defect in this sensor.

Check the supply voltage. Connect the voltmeter in series to contacts 2 and 6 of the wiring harness connector and to ground. Turn on the ignition. The required value: 4.8 5.2 V. Turn off the ignition.

Check the quality of the ground. To do this, turn off the ignition and connect an ohmmeter to contact 3 and to the ground. Required value: 0 Ohm.

Check the wiring between contact 3 (in vehicles manufactured before April 1989 - contact 2) of the wiring harness connector of the installation motor position sensor and contact 17 of the control unit connector or ground.

Connect an ohmmeter between contact 2 (in vehicles produced before April 1989 - contact 1) of the sensor connector. Required value: 4-6 kOhm.

Differences in connector pinout:
  • 1.5L engine, manufactured from 9.88 to 4.89: power supply - contact 2 or 3; mass - contact 1.
