Manual transmission — general information (Mitsubishi Galant 5)

The vehicles covered in this manual have a 4-speed or 5-speed manual transmission or a 3-speed or 4-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission information is contained in this part of Chapter 7. Automatic transmission service procedures are described in part B Chapter 7.

The manual transmission is a compact two-element housing, cast from aluminum alloy, which contains the elements of the transmission and differential.

Due to the complexity of the design and the unavailability of spare parts and the necessary special equipment, it is not recommended to perform internal repairs of the gearbox at home.
