The vehicles covered in this manual have a 4-speed or 5-speed manual transmission or a 3-speed or 4-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission information is contained in this part of Chapter 7. Automatic transmission service procedures are described in part B Chapter 7.
The manual transmission is a compact two-element housing, cast from aluminum alloy, which contains the elements of the transmission and differential.
Due to the complexity of the design and the unavailability of spare parts and the necessary special equipment, it is not recommended to perform internal repairs of the gearbox at home. For readers who want to overhaul the gearbox themselves, a detailed view and a brief description of the overhaul are provided in the section "Overhaul of a manual transmission - general information" This Chapter mainly covers the procedures for removing and installing the gearbox.
