Determining the amount of clearance in a bearing using a plastic gauge (Mitsubishi L200 4)

1. Remove oil from the surface of the bearing shell and the crankshaft journal.

2. Cut a piece of plastic gauge (1) the length of which corresponds to the width of the liner and place it on the shaft journal along the axis.

3. Install the connecting rod cap and tighten the nuts as described above.



4. Unscrew the nuts, remove the cover and measure the width of the crushed gauge at its widest part (using the scale included with the gauge).



The gap value obtained on the scale must be within the acceptable limits.

Nominal clearance value: 0.030-0.055 mm;

Maximum permissible gap value: 0.10 mm.
