Removal
Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Caution: This will erase data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in the section "Removing and installing the battery".
Mark the position of the wiper blades on the glass with adhesive tape so that they will fit in the same place when installed.
Disconnect the wiper arms and remove them from the wiper shafts.

Remove the cover from the water collection compartment, see item 20.9.
Disconnect the connector from the windshield wiper motor.

Remove the windshield wiper rods from the motor ball joints.
Unscrew the rods from the wiper axles and pull them out as a set, see Fig. K-6002.

Remove the connector from the windshield wiper motor.
Remove the outer rubber bushing from the wiper shaft.
Remove the 3 motor mounting bolts and pull out the motor.

Installation
Before installing a new motor, bring it to the resting position. To do this, connect the connector and let the motor run for about 1 minute. Then turn off the motor using the windshield wiper switch and, after letting it reach the resting position, remove the connector.
Front windshield wiper
Insert the windscreen wiper rods and tighten lightly to 5 Nm.
Connect the connector and allow the motor to come to rest.
Place the drive rods on the engine crank.
Secure the motor.
Insert and secure the water collection compartment cover.
Place the wiper arms in the final position on the windshield wiper shafts and tighten to 15 Nm. In the final position, the wipers should be 15-20 mm from the lower edge of the glass, only the right wiper on cars manufactured from 9.88: 30 mm.
Rear wiper
Secure the windshield wiper motor to the tailgate.

On cars manufactured from 9.88 onwards, place the rubber bushing on the windshield wiper shaft so that the arrow on it points back, towards the bumper. On cars manufactured before 8.88, the opposite arrow should point forward in the direction of vehicle travel.
Put on the connector and let the motor go to the resting position. Fix the wiper arm with a force of 10 Nm in such a position that in the final position it is parallel to the lower edge of the glass.
Fasten the rear door trim.
Place the caps on the wiper shafts.
Connect the ground cable to the battery.
Check the operation of the windshield wipers.
If they are available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.
