Removal the instrument panel kit

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

Caution: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio receiver code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the fuel injection device control unit may be damaged. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in the "Radio receiver" and "Removing and installing the battery" sections.

Remove the steering wheel, see p. 16.3.

Cars produced before 8.88

Remove the turn signal/wiper switch, see next section.

Remove the screws at the bottom of the trim and release the trim from the top of the clamps, see Fig.

Remove the screws and carefully pull the instrument panel out of the instrument panel cutout. Disconnect the speedometer flexible shaft and all electrical connectors from the rear side, then remove the instrument panel.

Unscrew 4 screws and remove the instrument panel visor "11".

Loosen the speedometer shaft nut on the gearbox and pull out the speedometer shaft.

Pull the instrument cluster inward and disconnect the cable connectors from the rear. Removing the speedometer shaft attachment, see paragraph 20.18.

Replacement of control lamps/backlight lamps

Place the dashboard on a clean, soft surface.

Turn the socket "1" of the burnt-out lamp to the left by hand or with a sharp screwdriver* and pull it out. The figure shows the instrument panel of the 9.88 release. If it is necessary to disassemble the instrument panel, proceed in the order of the numbers.

Insert lamp "2" into the socket. Turn the socket to the right.

Installation

Insert the electrical connectors.

Snap the speedometer shaft into place on the rear of the instrument cluster.

Cars produced since 9.88: Connect the speedometer shaft to the gearbox. Route the shaft so that it does not break. Insert a rubber sealing sleeve into the bulkhead.

Insert and secure the visor.

Install the steering column trim.

Insert the pads into the dashboard.

If removed, install the steering wheel.

Connect the ground cable to the battery.

If they are available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.
