Removing the dashboard kit
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
Attention: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is off, otherwise the control unit of the fuel injection device may fail. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in sections "Radio" And "Removing and installing the battery".
Remove the steering wheel see 16.3.
Release cars up to 8.88
Remove the turn signal/wiper switch, see next section.
Loosen the screws at the bottom of the cladding and release the cladding at the top from the grips, see fig.
Remove the screws and carefully pull the instrument panel out of the instrument panel cutout. Disconnect the speedometer flexible shaft and all electrical connectors from the rear, then remove the dashboard.
Vehicles from 9.88
Pull out the ashtray.
Release screws and remove center trim.
Remove the sunglasses box -3- from the frame.
Loosen screws and remove lower left instrument panel trim -4-.
Remove 4 screws and remove instrument panel cover -11-.
Loosen the speedometer shaft nut on the gearbox and pull out the speedometer shaft.
Pull the instrument cluster inward and disconnect the cable connectors from the rear. Removing the nozzle of the speedometer roller, see 20.18.
Replacement of control lamps / backlight lamps
Place the dashboard on a clean, soft pad.
Turn the socket -1- of the burnt-out bulb by hand or with a sharp screwdriver to the left* and pull it out. The picture shows the dashboard of the release from 9.88. If it is necessary to disassemble the dashboard, proceed in numerical order.
Insert bulb -2- into socket. Turn the cartridge to the right.
Installation
Insert electrical connectors.
Clip the speedometer shaft onto the back of the instrument cluster.
Vehicles from 9.88: Connect speedometer shaft to gearbox. Lay the roller so that it does not break. Insert the rubber sealing bush into the bulkhead.
Insert and fasten the visor.
Install the steering column trim.
Insert trims into dashboard.
If removed, install the steering wheel.
Connect ground cable to battery.
If available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.
