The turn signal/light switch and windshield wiper switch are so-called steering column switches and are removed together.

Removal

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

Caution: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio receiver code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the fuel injection device control unit may be damaged. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in the "Radio receiver" and "Removing and installing the battery" sections.

Remove the steering wheel, see p. 16.3.

Cars produced before 8.88

Remove the steering column trim mounting screws and remove the lower trim. Disconnect the light/wiper switch connectors and remove the upper trim.

Remove the light switch handle from the "OFF" position and unscrew the 2 mounting screws.

Remove the screws, straighten the retaining tabs and remove the steering column switch.

Cars produced since 9.88

Unscrew the lower instrument panel trim "1", as well as the steering column trim "2", see also item 20.18.

Disconnect the steering column switch connector "8" by squeezing the locking tabs. Remove the steering column switch.

Installation

Place and secure the switch on the steering column.

Connect the connector.

Secure the steering column trim.

Install the steering wheel, see p. 16.3.

Connect the ground cable to the battery.

If they are available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.

Check the operation of the horn and the switch on the steering column.
