Note: On other models, this switch is built into the combined steering column switch assembly and is not serviceable individually.
Removal
1. If the vehicle is equipped with the appropriate equipment, deactivate the airbag by setting the front wheels to a straight-ahead position and removing the key from the ignition switch (the column should lock). Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and wrap its contact tip with high-quality insulating tape. Wait for at least one minute, during which the airbag remains active in autonomous mode.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Remove the steering wheel (see Section Removal and installation the steering wheel).
3. Remove the hood release handle.
4. Remove the switches located on the knee rest panel under the steering column, unscrew the exposed screws and dismantle the rest.
5. Remove the upper and lower sections of the steering column cover.
6. If necessary, remove the air supply hose to the foot well, then carefully disconnect the electrical wiring from the wiper control switch assembly.
7. Remove the mounting screws and remove the switch assembly from the steering column.
Installation
1. Install the switch assembly in its regular place and connect the appropriate electrical wiring to it - make sure that all the provided fasteners are securely latched.
2. If removed, reinstall the air supply hose to the foot well.
3. Install the steering column cover sections and knee support.
4. Install the hood release handle.
5. Make sure that the front wheels of the vehicle remain straight and replace the steering wheel (see Section Removal and installation the steering wheel).
6. Connect the negative cable to the battery and turn the ignition key to the ON position - the SRS indicator light on the instrument panel should come on for seven seconds.
7. Check the proper functioning of the switch.
