Removal
Remove the gearbox, see paragraph 12.1.
Pull back the retaining spring and remove the release bearing.
Examination

Compress and turn the release bearing at the same time. If the bearing does not turn smoothly, replace it.
Caution: The bearing is permanently lubricated and should not be cleaned or lubricated.
If the contact points with the release fork are excessively worn, replace the bearing.
Installation

Fill the groove under the release bearing with MoS ₂ grease. In workshops, the original MITSUBISHI grease No. ET 0101011 is used for this purpose.

Apply MoS ₂ grease to the contact surfaces of the release fork. In workshops, MITSUBISHI grease No. ET 0101011 is used for this purpose.
Insert and lock the release bearing with the locking spring.
Install the gearbox, see paragraph 12.1.
