Removal
Remove the gearbox.
Press down the retaining spring and remove the release bearing.
Examination
Squeeze and turn the release bearing at the same time. If the bearing does not turn smoothly, it should be replaced. The bearing is permanently lubricated, so it should not be cleaned or lubricated.
The bearing should also be replaced if there is significant wear at the points of contact with the release fork.
Installation
Place a special molybdenum grease into the groove under the release bearing.
Apply grease to the contact surfaces of the release fork.
Insert and secure the release bearing with the retaining spring.

Install the gearbox.
