Note: Using an incorrect or dirty air filter can cause premature engine wear.
1. If necessary, disconnect the air flow sensor connector (except for 4G15-MPI engine).
2. Open the air filter cover latches.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the MAF sensor or its wiring.

3. Remove the filter element.

4. Visually inspect the filter element for contamination, oiling, clogging or damage. Replace the filter element if necessary.
5. If the filter element is slightly dirty or clogged, remove dust and other contaminants by blowing it out with compressed air from the outside.

6. Check the remaining air filter parts for clogging, dirt or damage.
7. Replace the filter element and close the filter cover latches.
8. Connect the mass air flow sensor connector (except for 4G15-MPI engine).
