Engine oil change (Mitsubishi Lancer 9)

Note:
  • - When operating the vehicle in difficult conditions, change the oil twice as often.
  • - When changing the engine oil, it is recommended to replace the oil filter at the same time.
  • - The frequency of replacing engine oil and engine oil filter is the same.


1. Place the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Start the engine and warm it up at idle speed until the coolant temperature reaches 80 - 90°C, then turn off the engine.

3. Drain the old engine oil.

a) Open the hood.

b) Remove the oil filler cap.

c) Unscrew the drain plug on the oil pan and drain the oil into a suitable container.

Caution: Be careful and cautious as the oil is hot.


d) After the engine oil has completely drained, reinstall the oil pan drain plug. Before installing, clean the drain plug and install a new gasket if necessary. Tighten the plug to the specified torque.

Tightening torque: 39±5 Nm

Note: Install the drain plug gasket so that it is facing the oil pan as shown in the illustration.

4. Fill the specified volume of new engine oil through the engine oil filler neck, checking the level with the engine oil dipstick. Select the engine oil viscosity (according to the SAE classification) according to the temperature range diagram corresponding to the vehicle operating conditions.

Oil quality according to API (not lower) — class SG

Filling capacity:

With oil filter replacement:
  • Engine 4G15 - 3.3 l
  • Engine 4G93 - 3.8 l

Without changing the oil filter:
  • Engine 4G15 - 3.0 l
  • Engine 4G93 - 3.5 l




5. Replace the oil filler cap.

6. Start the engine and press the accelerator pedal for several minutes. Check for oil leaks.

7. Turn off the engine and check the engine oil level.
