ComponentProcedure
Vacuum brake boosterCheck the operation of the brakes by pressing the brake pedal during a test drive. If the brakes do not work properly, check the technical condition of the vacuum booster. Replace the vacuum booster assembly if any defects or brake fluid leaks are found.
Piston cap and cap pressure testing• Check the operation of the brakes by pressing the pedal. Check for brake fluid faults or leaks. Disassemble and inspect the brake master cylinder if the pedal does not operate properly, damage is found, or brake fluid leaks are detected. Replace the primary and secondary pistons whenever the master cylinder is disassembled.
• Check the difference in brake pedal travel when pressing the pedal quickly and slowly. Disassemble and check the master brake cylinder if the pedal stroke is different. Replace the primary and secondary pistons whenever the master cylinder is disassembled.
Brake hosesCheck the brake hoses for damage or signs of brake fluid leaks. Replace the hose with a new one if damage or leaks are found.
Caliper piston seal and piston bootsCheck the operation of the brakes by pressing the pedal. Check for damage or signs of brake fluid leaks. If the pedal does not work properly, the brakes are sticking, or damage or leaks of brake fluid are detected, disassemble the brake caliper and check the technical condition of the parts. Replace the boots and gaskets after each disassembly of the brake caliper.
Brake master cylinder piston seal and dust bootCheck the operation of the brakes by pressing the pedal. Check for damage or signs of brake fluid leaks. If the pedal does not work properly, the brakes grab, or damage or leaks of brake fluid are found, disassemble the wheel cylinder. Replace the piston seal and dust boots with new ones after each disassembly of the working brake cylinder.
