Removal
Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Caution: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio receiver code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the fuel injection device control unit may be damaged. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in the "Radio receiver" and "Removing and installing the battery" sections.
Remove the radio, see paragraph 25.5.
Remove the steering wheel, see p. 16.3.
Remove the instrument panel, see paragraph 25.1.
Remove the center console, see item 20.15.
Remove the footwell heating channel under the switch panel.
Pull the glove compartment out of the mount and upwards.
Detach and remove the bottom shelf.
Remove the steering column trim: To do this, remove the lower trim. Disconnect the light switch and windshield wiper switch connector and remove the upper trim.
Remove the bottom trim.
Remove the corner trim.
Using a wide screwdriver, press the heater control panel cover.
Disconnect the heater control panel and pull it out a little, the cables remain connected.
Remove the side trims on the left and right in the driver and front passenger area.
Remove the ashtray.
Disconnect the cables running behind the instrument panel from the instrument panel.
Remove the caps from the bolts at the top center of the instrument panel.
Remove all instrument panel mounting screws and nuts and pull out the instrument panel.
Installation
The removed parts of the instrument panel are installed in the reverse order. Be careful not to pinch the wires.
Connect the ground cable to the battery.
If they are available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.
