Install the upper control arm/control rod assembly as shown in the illustration with the color marks facing the trailing arm.
Examination
Check the condition of the bushings for wear or damage.
Check the condition of the control rod, upper and lower suspension arms for bending or damage.
Check the condition of all mounting bolts (thread condition and bending).
Checking the moment when the control rod/upper suspension arm/lower suspension arm starts to turn in the support bearing

Check the condition of each support bearing as follows.
Insert the mounting bolt into the hole of the support bearing. On the opposite side, put on the washer and screw on the mounting nut.

Rotate the inner bearing sleeve several times, then use the special tool (MB990326) to measure the moment the support bearing sleeve begins to rotate.
Nominal value: 0.5–3.0 Nm.
If the measured value exceeds the standard value, replace the control rod support bearing, or the upper control arm, or the lower control arm.
If the measured value is less than the nominal value, make sure that the support bearing rotates freely without significant play.
If there is no significant play and the rotation is smooth, the support bearing can be reused.
Replacing the bushing and support bearing of the lower arm

Replace the lower control arm bushing and support bearing by performing the following operations.
Replacing the lower arm bushing
Attention! Since the outer diameter of the bushing is different at its different ends, be careful not to confuse the direction of installation of the bushing.

To press in/press out the bushing, use the following special tool.
- MB991447: device for removing/installing bushings.
- MB991448 base for removing/installing bushings.
- МВ991449: support for removing/installing bushings.
After pressing the bushing, the distance between the edges of the outer sleeve of the bushing and the lower arm should be 1.5 mm (see figure).
Replacing the lower control arm support bearing

To press in/press out the bushing, use the following special tool.
- MB990957: Tool for removing/installing the lower suspension arm bushing.
- МВ990969: Guide.
- MV990971: Foundation.
- МВ990996: Mandrel for lower control arm bushing.
After pressing the bushing, the distance between the edges of the outer sleeve of the bushing and the lower arm should be 3.0 mm (see figure).
