The vehicles covered in this manual have a 4-speed or 5-speed manual transmission or a 3-speed or 4-speed automatic transmission. Information about the automatic transmission is contained in this part of Chapter 7. Manual transmission service procedures are described in part A Chapter 7.
Due to the complexity of the automatic transmission design and the need for special equipment for servicing, this chapter describes only procedures related to general diagnosis, periodic maintenance, adjustment, and removal and installation.
If the gearbox is seriously damaged, repairs should be carried out by a specialist. However, even in this case, you can save money by removing and installing the gearbox yourself.
